Hi, I’m Kimberly Crossland, a camping loving mom to two amazing little boys.
But camping wasn’t always in my blood. In fact, several years ago when my husband pitched the idea of buying a travel trailer to me, I cringed. He was crazy, I thought. I didn’t know the first thing about traveling on the road, and while the idea had some appeal, I wasn’t sold on making this our vacation mode for the foreseeable future.
Fast-forward to 2018 when I found myself wrangling a 4-month old and 1-year-old at an RV dealership touring some trailers. It wasn’t until I was inside that I saw his vision. This could actually be kind of fun, I thought, and on my oldest son’s second birthday we bought our first trailer.
Since then, life’s been a wild ride, traveling around the Southwest part of the country. We’ve made plenty of mistakes. We’ve spent a night driving our two kids around a highway in a desperate attempt to get them to sleep. We’ve even tried dry camping (or boondocking, if you will).
Through it all, our family of four has fallen so deeply in love with this mode of exploration that we decided to build Cruisin’ + Campfires, a company designed to equip others for the same sort of adventures.
WHAT WE DO
We create boxes filled with engaging activities to keep kids busy on the road (and keep parents sane for the haul). Each box has been tried and tested by our own preschoolers, but as with anything in this age group, results may vary.
We recognize that road trips are part of the experience. Our content is designed to help ease the stress of towing while also incorporating fun along the way.
We’re seasoned campers (er...make that glampers) who love finding fun outdoors. While we’re glad to have a shower close by, we don’t mind getting dirty on hiking trails, by playing in the mud, or by dancing in the rain. It’s all about balance.
With dozens of camping trips in our books and hundreds more to come, we’re excited to share the activities and strategies that have kept our family happy and sane while heading to the great outdoors.
