Cruisin' + Campfires was designed to inspire more families to seek adventure and spark joy around the campfire.
When looking at the outdoor industry, Kimberly noticed that few companies catered to those who wanted to embrace the outdoors in comfort, rather than rugged fashion. Being an outdoors-lover but not a hard-core adventure type herself, she looked for ways to bring creature comforts to the campsite but didn't have any luck. So, she did it herself.
In late 2020, Cruisin' + Campfires was born. Today, each product is carefully hand-designed, packed and sent with love knowing the memories that are just waiting to be had inside. By leveraging the Internet to shrink the world, Cruisin' + Campfires is dedicated to helping other campers who appreciate cozy camping styles find joy outside.
Our approach to RV travel is centered on the Scandinavian philosophy of hygge. It's where time stands still, families put their phones away, and a lifetime of memories are created. Today, we're proud and happy to be able to offer these to others.
Hi, I'm Kimberly Crossland, founder of Cruisin' + Campfires.
It might sound surprising, but camping wasn’t always in my blood. In fact, several years ago when my husband pitched the idea of buying a travel trailer to me, I cringed. He was crazy, I thought. I didn’t know the first thing about traveling on the road, and while the idea had some appeal, I wasn’t sold on making this our vacation mode for the foreseeable future.
Fast-forward to 2018 when I found myself wrangling a 4-month old and 1-year-old at an RV dealership touring some trailers. It wasn’t until I was inside that I saw his vision. This could actually be kind of fun, I thought, and on my oldest son’s second birthday we bought our first trailer.
Since then, life’s been a wild ride, traveling around the Southwest part of the country. We’ve made plenty of mistakes. We’ve spent a night driving our two kids around a highway in a desperate attempt to get them to sleep. We’ve even tried dry camping (or boondocking, if you will).
Through it all, our family of four has fallen so deeply in love with this mode of exploration that we decided to build Cruisin’ + Campfires, a company designed to equip others for the same sort of adventures.
